The Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational corporation. They are famous for their line in computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and gaming consoles such as the Xbox 360. Founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen Microsoft is now the world’s largest software manufacturer. Microsoft has recently purchased Skype for $8.5 billion and Nokia’s devices and services division. Another recent development is that Microsoft have decided to discontinue the development of its Internet Explorer. The bundling of Internet Explorer with Windows has always been a sticking point for Microsoft. Microsoft is part of the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI).This coalition includes Facebook, Intel and Google. Led by Sir Tim Berners-Lee the coalition seeks to further introduce the internet to the developing world.

What is Microsoft Office?

Microsoft Office is a collection of different software programs and server based applications. Microsoft Office 2016 is due for release in 2015. Microsoft office features a word processor called Word, a spreadsheet program called Excel, a slide creator for presentations called Powerpoint and a database management program called Access. Distributed with all modern versions of Microsoft Windows, Mircosoft Office starter contains free versions of Word and Excel.
