Where is Birmingham?

Birmingham is located within the West Midlands. It is the second largest city in the country with a population of over one million. The industrial revolution saw Birmingham at the forefront of scientific and technological advances. Today Birmingham’s economy is dominated by the service sector. This includes industries such as government, telecommunication and information technology. The service sector accounts for 88% of the city’s employment. One of the most prominent features in Birmingham city centre is the British Telecom tower. Founded in 1909 Birmingham University is known for its award winning Technology and Innovation Centre.
