Where are the West Midlands?

The West Midlands is one of nine official regions. It covers largely industrial areas such as Birmingham and Wolverhampton as well as ruralised areas such as Shrewsbury and Staffordshire. Historically the West Midlands is the home to the Industrial Revolution and Eugenics (Francis Galton invented the phrase ‘nature versus nurture’). Cities in the region like Birmingham have their economies dominated by the service sectors. The towns in the surrounding regions have large breweries and industries that surround the motor trade. The region is also home to five areas of outstanding natural beauty. These areas include the Shropshire Hills, Malvern’s and the Cotswolds
